The sunny weather in Florida has attracted tourists for decades, and in the prosperity of “the roaring 20s”, many coastal areas were developed for wealthy clients to build castles of entertainment , often used for a scant two or three months a year.
Mar-a-Lago is the estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post, daughter of C. W. Post who created the prepared food industry. The house is a sprawling Mediterranean-style villa in a Hispano-Moresque style which became popular in Palm Beach at the time. The interiors of all the rooms and the exterior stonework were designed by Joseph Urban.
Florida Southern College is a complete campus with 18 structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
