With more than two thousand engravings, this influential book is just one of many publications by Loudon from 1803 to 1843. He was primarily a botanist and garden designer, credited as one of the first to write about landscape architecture, “arboretums” and English gardening in the 17th Century. He was also influential as an early city planner for green spaces, creating designs for botanic gardens, parks and cemeteries in the United Kingdom.
