Rockland Mansion Fairmount Park
Rounded dormers and the widows walk are the first notable features of Rockland Mansion, one of the Schuylkill River Villas in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. Well proportioned columns and the half-round porch match the overall symmetry of the facade. Walls and ceiling of the attic have interesting contours from the dormers, and the access stairs to the rooftop lookout.
Rockland has a unique elliptical stairway with a continuous flowing handrail from top to bottom, and original mantels in the principal rooms. Read the complete article for more photos, and learn the fate of this Federal style historic house.
